Many of us go through life defining ourselves by our jobs, our families, our houses, or our physical bodies as what makes us happy.
Cruisin for a bruisin
Unfortunately, however, when we rely too much upon other things or people to make us happy, we are often let down and disillusioned in the long run.
Happiness should come from within. Everyone has their own ideal of happiness, it varies from person to person.
We all want to live “Happily ever after” but this can sometimes set us up for disappointment. Ever after can be a very long time.
Stay in the present
What I suggest, is to try and keep things in the moment. All we are assured of is the present. Yesterday is gone, and there is no guarantee of having a tomorrow.
If we can be happy in the present moment, we can then achieve the happiness of ever after. One moment at a time.
Practice makes perfect
I understand of course that this is a simple concept that is not easily achieved. It takes a lot of practice to always keep things in the moment. Life can be a hassle at times and you never know what it will throw at you.
However, keeping things in the moment and having gratitude for the things you have, will help to ensure a life with more positivity, less fear, and more overall happiness. Does this sound like something you would be interested in?
